Swim & Dive Team

For information on joining the Northbrook Swim and Dive  Teams, please visit the TEAMS website at Click Here.

We invite swimmers of all ages (4-18) to come and join our team for the summer! Our coaches are dedicated to ensuring that your children have a positive and rewarding experience while making lifelong friends!

The Northbrook Dolphins Swim Team emphasizes growth in swimming skills, with a focus on commitment, team fellowship, team spirit, sportsmanship, confidence, and respect for others through the combination of physical fitness and FUN!

Welcome NEW SWIMMERS!

If you are considering joining the team for the first time, we are thrilled at the prospect of having you join us! We encourage a fun, friendly environment in which each swimmer will support and cheer on the participation and performance of his or her team members… so come join the fun!

To gauge your preparation for team membership, we ask you to consider the following:

  • 6 and under swimmers must be able to swim at least 15 meters unassisted, preferably 25 meters.
  • 7 to 10 year old swimmers must be able to swim at least 25 meters unassisted (without stopping), and preferably 35-50 meters.
  • 11 and older swimmers must be able to swim at least 50 meters unassisted (without stopping), and preferably 75 meters.

We will assess your child’s ability to meet these standards through the first full week of practice.  If your child is interested in joining the team, but is not yet ready to swim the appropriate distance for his/her age group, we recommend that you consider signing the child up for swim lessons and joining the team at a later date.  There is no deadline on when new swimmers can join the team. Northbrook offers private and group swim lessons.  Information can be found on the “lessons” page of the website.

SWIM TEAM SUITS

Note: A Northbrook Dolphin swim team suit is not required to participate on the swim team.

Wearing a swim team suit is one way to show team spirit, portray unity, and create an exciting atmosphere at the swim meets.

Aquatic Management Swim Shop is handling our team order and will provide suits and fittings at the time of our May 9th team meeting.  Families can either order at the team meeting or they may go into the store to complete a team order form.

All swimmers are also encouraged to wear swim caps and goggles in practice and at swim meets. A team cap will be given to your swimmer at the first meet.  Goggles can be purchased at Target and Wal-Mart, but for the best fit, Aquatic Management Swim Shop has employees who can fit your child with the perfect goggles that will prevent leaking, slipping, etc.
